A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO, WE RECEIVED THE NEW COLLECTION OF IRON ON PATCHES BY MERI MERI. I IMMEDIATELY FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS PLAYFUL AND COLOURFUL COLLECTION!
The only problem with the patches was that I simply couldn’t decide on which ones to buy, so I started brainstorming for ideas on different ways I could use all of them. My problem was solved, I bought all my favourites and added a little touch of Meri Meri everywhere! I decided to share some of my ideas with you so you too can enjoy this beautiful line of patches!
1. Personalize your garments
My first proposition is the most common. You can use iron on patches to customize your clothes, like jeans, t-shirts, denim jackets or even to add a little something to your children wardrobe.
2. Personalize your accessories
We often only think about clothes, but we usually forget the thousands of fabric accessories we have. Here, I took a simple pair of shoes I already owned and added a little playful personalized touched to them. You could also opt for a simple backpack or lunch box.
I also decided to customize a simple metal hairclip by adding a little drop of glue on the back of the patch and then directly sticking it on the clip. This is a great way to have a little something extra to your hairstyle and an interesting way to use the smallest patches of a set.
3. Hide a stain or a hole
During my last vacation in Gaspésie, the great adventurer in me managed to burn a hole in my favourite raincoat. I still could not manage to find the perfect patch to hide the burn, until now. A little tip when applying patches on a synthetic fabric, I suggest putting a piece of cotton between the iron and your garment to make sure you don’t melt the fabric. If you don’t feel confident enough to iron it on, another simple way is by simply sewing your patch directly onto your fabric.
Tip 101
When installing your patch, try as much as possible to put the iron on the back of your fabric where you’re applying the patch, rather than on the patch directly. This will help melt the fusible glue better. If you want to make sure it won’t unstick over time, I would advise you to sew around the patch when possible.
4. Create original wall decor
I love finding new creative ways to decor my house, so I could not miss the opportunity to add these beautiful patches into my decor. To start, I used a simple quilt cotton that I stretched in an embroidery hoop. The only thing left to do is to apply your favourite patches. For this idea I used the letters with a neon pink accent, which are my favourites!
5. Give them as a gift
Our blank birthday card allows you to add the patch of your choice! Create unique personalized greeting cards by gluing the patch with double-sided adhesive tape, as well as offering a nice patch that can be used by your loved ones.
Here you go! I hope you enjoyed!
Do not forget that we love to see your creations. Feel free to share them with us through social media, using the hashtag #clubtissus.
