Free Pattern: Knit a Simple Cowl, Perfect for Beginners

• 4.5mm circular needles, between 60cm and 80cm (or longer if you want to use the magic loop technique)
• Row counter (optional)

Suggested Wool: Approx. 200m of Cascade 220 Superwash Worsted (1 ball) or 200m of any worsted weight yarn

Gauge: 20 stitches = 10cm

K = knit

P = purl

1. Using 4.5mm needles, cast on 108 stitches using the long tail cast-on technique or any other elastic method. We suggest allowing about 2m of yarn for the tail of the cast-on.
2. Join in the round, without twisting the stitches and place a row counter (if desired).
3. Ribs: (K2, P2), repeat to the end of the row.
4. Repeat the row until the ribs are 5cm long.
5. Circular Jersey: K every stitch.
6. Continue in circular Jersey for 19cm (a total of 23cm from the cast-on).
7. Then knit 5cm in ribbing (K2, P2).
8. Bind-off the stitches loosely.
9. Weave in ends, wash the knitwear and block.
