We are very excited to introduce one of our team’s favourite local quilt artist!
Shannon Fraser discovered quilting somewhat by accident, thanks to a YouTube video. A true revelation that rapidly became her passion and her creative home. " I didn’t have quilting in my life plan if you will. It really took me by surprise and it was something that I can’t imagine my life without. It’s six years in and I feel that I'm just scratching the surface as to what I want to learn and explore in this quilting world. "
" One of the things that I have discovered in quilting : it is about actually the journey, it’s not about finishing something super quick and sitting down in a day and finishing a project. Quilting is not about that, but that’s the beauty of it. You are committing to something, you are investing your time, your energy and your creativity and at the end of it, you not only have a beautiful piece of art, you have a functional piece of art that you can snuggle on the couch with and be with your family, watch a movie or just read a book and you are wrapped in the comfort you have created. "
" What’s fun is that quilting is really about making it your own. You can be a traditional quilter, a modern quilter, a mash up of the two. It’s really about bringing your own unique spin and your own artistic take on either a pattern that you want to try or if you want to try improve quilting and just do your own quilty thing. "
