Tutorial: How to Sew a Case for Your Sewing Scissors

This week we have a pretty scissor pouch project for you. A pretty gift for your favorite pair of scissors! Give free reign to your imagination with the choice of fabric and embellishment. You can even match the pouch to your sewing room! This pouch will protect the scissors' tip and will prevent injuries. A simple project to help personalize your little sewing nook!

Level of difficulty: Easy. Basic sewing machine skills required.

Time required: About 30 minutes

Material:

  • 2 patterned cotton fabrics: 20 cm (8 in)
  • Cotton wadding: 20 cm (8 in)
  • 1 decorative button
  • Scissors or a rotary cutter

STEP 1: Cut the scissor pouch pattern in both patterned fabrics and in the cotton wadding.

STEP 2: Right sides together, fold the cotton wadding and one of the two patterned cotton fabrics. Pin and sew them together. Scissor pouch | Clubtissus.com

STEP 3: Right sides together, fold the second piece of patterned cotton. Pin and sew.Scissor pouch | Clubtissus.com

STEP 4: Place the two pouches right sides together. Only sew the small section, the one on the right.Scissor pouch | Clubtissus.com

STEP 5: Pin the large section. Sew it and turn the pouch inside out.Scissor pouch | Clubtissus.com

STEP 6: Make a small hem with the open part and topstitch the hem. Fold the small corner. Stitch the decorative button in place.
